Support for the fight for freedom of the Ukrainian people

To end the war

Condemning the war started jointly by Russia and Belarus, on 24 February 2022, the management of Latvijas Finieris unanimously decided to suspend all further relations with representatives of the aggressor economies. This applies to both raw material purchases and sales of plywood products. The second immediate decision of the company’s management was to direct stable financial support to the Ukrainian people, over a sufficiently long period of time.

Together we will win!

A secure, democratic and free country with a strong culture, education, science and human rights are values that we reinforce both at home and in our support for the aggressor-ravaged Ukraine.

Our support system is linked to the volume of logs processed in the Group’s factories – 5 euros per cubic metre. We can help if we are strong, and if we can work and earn money.

A wide range of humanitarian aid has been assembled to support the civilian population. For example, civilian food kits, hygiene items, fuel tanks, wood briquettes and other things necessary in war. Mobile beds have been made of birch plywood from Latvijas Finieris, which can be assembled in 2 minutes without screws. These beds have been placed at bomb shelters used during air raids by the Russian army.

Timely and correct treatment of severe hand injuries reduces disability, so thanks to a donation from Latvijas Finieris, equipment was provided for the Latvian microsurgery mobile unit working in Ukraine. The experience gained in Ukraine can be used in Latvia for both practical assistance and training. Latvijas Finieris has also supported medical specialists in Ukraine “Catastrophic Hand Unit Ukraine” and medical and humanitarian aid for Ukrainian war refugees in Latvia in cooperation with the foundation “Ronald McDonald House Charities Latvija”, the Wound and Disfigurement Association, and the Children’s Foundation of Latvia.

Our birch plywood, materials and tools have been donated to save Ukraine’s cultural heritage. Cultural heritage reflects the identity of each nation, so its preservation and restoration is particularly important in conflict situations. It has also been recognised as one of the most valuable donations by our Ukrainian partners.

With the support of Latvijas Finieris, from mid-September 2022 Ir magazine’s series of articles “Voices of the War in Ukraine” are available free of charge to all readers.

In cooperation with the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia (LDDK), technical support was provided to the representatives of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, as well as the opportunity to work in the premises of the LDDK while temporarily in Latvia. HR managers of Ukrainian companies have the opportunity to participate in the “Training of trainers in adult education skills” project. Significant donations have been transferred through the Church Aid Foundation of Finland, which is making a significant contribution to the education of domestic refugees in northern and western Ukraine. The Fund also provides food and hygiene products to the refugees.

Thank you to all partners!

We believe that together we can defeat this evil and we will continue to support Ukraine until the war is over.
